A busy Christmas town square fills the canvas edge to edge, cropped close so that buildings, cars and people spill off the frame. A huge dark green fir, hung with hand-painted gold stars, garlands and yellow baubles, rises beside a dusty-pink townhouse and a slate-blue one, while a grey stone staircase climbs toward the upper right with shoppers carrying bags.

In the snowy street below, a small red vintage car carries a stack of wrapped gifts on its roof, and a navy car with lit amber windows is cut off at the edge. A crowd of pedestrians in colorful coats, scarves and hats walks toward the pink house's arched door, and gift boxes are piled at the foot of a bare tree.

Soft overcast daylight and small glowing windows keep the mood gentle and cozy. The gouache and acrylic surface has a chalky matte finish, flat brush marks, dry-brush edges and tiny hand-dabbed gold accents, and the faceless figures are loosely simplified.
