Santa walks away from us in a long fur-trimmed coat, a heavy sack of gifts slung over his shoulder, and reaches out a gloved hand to a young reindeer that has stepped close to meet him. A few broken strokes mark the snowy ground beneath their feet; everything else is left as quiet, empty paper.

The drawing is made of quick, scratchy pen lines in warm sepia-black, thick and dark in the boots and sack, hair-thin and trailing off in the antlers. Soft blotches in the aged cream paper give it the feel of a page from an old sketchbook, gentle and nostalgic rather than festive.
