A small Santa in a dusty red coat walks away from us along a snowy lane, pulling a wooden sled stacked with wrapped gifts and a pine bough. Beside him, stone cottages sit under thick snow roofs, their windows glowing amber and their doors hung with wreaths and red bows.

Further along, a stone bridge and a church steeple rise above a village of lit windows, set against rolling hills and a hazy golden sky as soft snow falls. Fairy lights twinkle in the pines and lanterns warm the fences.

It is painted like a traditional oil landscape, with thick impasto snow, loose dabbed foliage and a muted cream, amber and evergreen palette that feels nostalgic, hushed and cozy.
