Large, open-faced flowers in burnt orange, golden yellow, cream, blush pink and deep blue stand among smaller wildflowers and slender stems. Behind them the meadow dissolves into a misty blue-grey distance under a pale, cloud-streaked sky.

The petals are built from thick, sculpted ridges of paint, so they catch the light like soft relief. The blurred background sets off the crisp foreground blooms and gives the scene a quiet, painterly calm.
