A broad mountain with a snow-covered summit rises in the middle distance, lit with creamy highlights against a sky of peach, lilac and soft mauve. Rolling green hills and dark conifers lead down toward a meadow, where rows of tiny yellow-white blossoms run across the slope.

In the foreground, large cream daisies with golden centres and a few lavender flowers stand among tall dry grasses. The paint is laid on thickly with a palette knife, so the clouds, the mountain faces and the hillsides appear as ridged, sculpted strokes. The mood is warm and gentle, like the end of a calm day in the high country.
