About this work
Three weathered ivory marble arches form a colonnade on a sun-warmed terrace, the central arch framing open sea and horizon while the side arches reveal a whitewashed hillside village with terracotta rooftops and dark cypress trees. A heavy-laden lemon tree and a potted olive tree stand in terracotta pots, coral bougainvillea spills from urns along a low balustrade, and a small wrought-iron bistro table with a single chair catches the light.
Low golden-hour sun casts long, soft arch-shadows across the terracotta tile floor, and a gentle luminous haze softens the distant coastline. Thick impasto and palette-knife texture, with softly blended edges, recall early twentieth-century plein-air painting and vintage travel posters, for a tranquil, nostalgic, sun-drenched feel.
