Three cream-walled cottages with steep blue-gray roofs sit side by side, their windows lit warm gold and their rooflines draped in leaf-and-berry garlands. Wreaths hang on the green doors, window boxes overflow with mums and sunflowers, and corn-stalk bundles and pumpkins gather along a white picket fence.

In front, five children in coats, knit hats and scarves carry apples, a pumpkin and sunflowers down a street scattered with fallen leaves, a golden retriever in a plaid bandana trotting at their heels. Tall orange and red trees frame the scene and leaves drift through a deep blue sky under a pale-yellow moon, all rendered in thick, mosaic-like palette-knife strokes that give the whole village a cozy, storybook glow.
