An antique, dark lacquered sleigh with a high scrolled prow, curled wrought-iron runners and a worn fur-like seat cushion sits in full side profile, spanning most of the width. It is piled with vintage gift boxes wrapped in cream and kraft paper and tied with natural twine and rustic bows, and a spray of dried branches, frosted twigs and small pinecones is tucked in at the back. Two more presents rest on the ground in front.

The sleigh floats against an empty, mottled plaster-like backdrop with subtle cracks and uneven washes, lit by soft, even light with no harsh shadows. Thick scraped palette-knife strokes and a dusty, faded patina in cream, espresso brown and kraft tan give the oil painting a moody, nostalgic, quietly festive feel.
