Five small decorated trees and a tall dark evergreen stand in a corner of a cream-colored room, hung with red baubles, gold beads and star toppers. In front, a generous pyramid of wrapped presents in brick red, forest green, kraft and pale mint spills across a cream tabletop, tied with ribbons and bows.

A small gilt-framed painting of red flowers hangs on the wall between sprigs of holly tied with red bows. Warm, diffused light falls from the left, casting soft shadows across a loosely brushed wall.

The painting has the aged, hazy look of an early twentieth-century holiday postcard, with visible dry-brush strokes and a muted palette of parchment, pine green and antique gold.
