A small white lamb lies in the grass at the lower right, looking calmly out of the scene. On the left, an old tree with a thick, twisting trunk spreads branches covered in pale green and white blossoms across the top of the picture.

The meadow is sage green and flecked with tiny white flowers. It fades into soft grey hills and an overcast sky. Thick, buttery strokes in the leaves and clouds contrast with the muted, quiet atmosphere.
