About this work
Santa Claus in a red coat and hat rides a deep red and gold sleigh heaped with wrapped gifts, drawn by four galloping reindeer in harness. They race up a sweeping snowy hillside, throwing up clouds of powdery spray, with frosted pines on one side and bare snow-dusted shrubs on the other.
The scene is painted in thick palette-knife impasto, so the snow reads as ridged, creamy relief while the clouds are loosely blended into a soft pewter and cream sky. A pale sun glows through the haze over distant forested hills, giving the whole picture a quiet, nostalgic, antique-Christmas-card warmth.

“My kids and I love this image! I like the chunky paint pieces and the duller color that makes it look more like an older oil painting”
