A rabbit with round wire glasses sits upright on a wooden floor, its pink-padded feet turned toward us. It wears a checked tweed jacket with a waistcoat and tie, and holds a small brown book open in both paws.

The dark, scraped-looking wall behind it is built from heavy, dry brushwork in umber and olive. Flecks of white paint scatter through the air like dust or snow, and a soft light rests on the rabbit's face and ears. The result feels like a storybook portrait of a gentle scholar.
