A soft, hazy oil painting of a snowbound town square. A tall fir hung with golden lights and red baubles stands at the centre, ringed by adults and children in long coats, hats and top hats.

Stone shopfronts with snow-laden roofs line both sides, their windows glowing amber, while a grey church tower fades into the pale, snowy mist behind. Loose, feathery brushwork and a muted palette of cream, taupe and grey leave the glow of the tree as the focal warmth.
