Evergreens crowd the lower edge of the canvas, their branches flecked with snow. Further back, rows of trees dissolve into a soft white fog until they are only faint grey outlines.

Most of the picture is empty, pale sky, which leaves a quiet, hushed feeling. The paint is applied in thick, textured strokes, and the snow on the nearest branches stands out as small raised touches of white against the deep green.
