Snow lies thick on the roof of a small brick cabin, and a thin line of smoke rises from its chimney. Tall pine trunks frame the scene on both sides. Beyond them, bare birches fade into a pale, misty distance.

A curving road sweeps through the foreground in creamy, buttery strokes. The warm brick and brown bark stand out against the cool whites and soft greys. The scene feels hushed, sheltered and still.
