A pond fills the whole canvas, its surface scattered with round lily pads and a handful of coral and rose blossoms. At the center the water opens into a pale patch of blue and lavender, reflecting a sky and the trees along the bank.

The paint is laid down in short, visible strokes that blur the line between water, leaf and reflection. Tall green reeds rise along the right edge and give the soft, hazy surface a little structure. The mood is quiet and unhurried, a still moment in a garden pond.
