A whimsical procession of costumed animals and a skeleton walks single file in profile across a sparse autumn field. A fox in a tall curved witch's hat leads the way, followed by a black cat with an arched tail, a small sheeted ghost, and a goose in a ribbon scarf. A caped skeleton brings up the rear, pulling a little wooden cart with a single pumpkin.

A large pale moon hangs low in the sky, small bats scatter overhead, and a faint silhouette of gothic spires sits on the horizon. Fine cross-hatching and stippling shape the fur and feathers, with light, muted washes over a mottled, foxed paper ground that feels like an old storybook page.
