A bouquet of heart-shaped balloons crowds the center of the canvas. The largest is pale cream, and the others range from dusty rose and mauve to deep burgundy. Thin dark strings gather beneath them, and a few more balloons drift apart toward the edges.

The oil paint is laid on in short, thick strokes. Glossy highlights on the balloons stand out against the creamy, scraped background. The result is sweet and a little nostalgic, with a soft, muted palette.
