About this work
Tall dry stalks and seed heads rise from a field at night, their tops capped with thick dabs of white paint that read as fresh snow. Ochre and bronze leaves cross the stems, and a handful of dark crimson blooms break the cool palette with a warm note.
Specks of paint scatter across the dark sky like falling flakes. The heavy impasto strokes catch the light, so the flowers look frozen in place, hushed and a little dramatic.
