About this work
A single gnarled, leafless tree sits just right of center, its bare branches reaching toward a large full moon rendered in warm ivory. Soft moonglow washes the whole scene in sepia-gold light, and the sky fades into a hazy gradient toward a low horizon of dark, tangled treeline and dry grasses.
Small bat silhouettes scatter across the sky like simple dark cutouts. Woven canvas grain and soft cross-hatched brushstrokes give the oil painting an aged, antique finish with an eerie, nostalgic mood.
