About this work
A close, edge-to-edge crop of a mummy's face is built from wide, overlapping cream bandage strips that cross the whole canvas on a diagonal, from lower left to upper right. Only a narrow dark opening remains near the center right, where two simple ring-shaped cream eyes with small black pupils look out. Thin tan accent lines trace the strip edges, and generous empty cream space surrounds the single focal point.
The view is flat, graphic and frontal, with sharply tapered strips and slightly irregular, hand-cut contours and no shading. Grainy, speckled edges resemble dry crayon or oil pastel dragged across textured paper, with tiny dark flecks over the cream areas and visible woven tooth in the black. The result is quietly spooky, cute rather than scary.
