Tulips of many sizes fill the canvas. Some are closed buds and others are fully open cups, in blush pink, coral red, golden yellow and creamy white. Their slender green stems rise through a muted teal background of leaves and sky.

The paint is laid on thick, with visible ridges and palette-knife marks, so each petal reads as a small sculpted shape of colour. The soft palette and loose rhythm make the garden feel fresh and gentle.
