About this work
Thick, torn-edged layers of white and grey paint stack on top of each other and form peaks, valleys and sweeping contour lines. The edges catch the light, and the shadows between them are soft and deep.
The palette is limited to chalk white, pewter and slate. That keeps the focus on the raised, sculptural surface and gives the picture a quiet, geological feel.
