About this work
Two skeletal hands rise from the lower corners and meet at the fingertips to form a heart. Each bone is drawn in fine black line with light hatching for shading, in the manner of an old anatomical engraving.
The hands sit alone in the middle of a warm cream page, lightly stained like old paper. The wide empty margins keep the image airy, and the mood is both tender and a little macabre.
