About this work
A large orange disc dominates a wall of aged, cracked cream plaster. Its surface is crazed like old paint and shades from deep orange to gold. Thin black stems rise in front of it, carrying round dark leaves and small red pom-pom flowers. A row of black triangles runs along the bottom edge like a range of hills.
The orange sun against the black silhouettes makes a strong, graphic composition. The scraped and peeling texture gives it the look of a worn, handmade surface. The flat shapes and warm palette feel modern but also somewhat mid-century.
