About this work
A flock of woolly sheep grazes across a sloping, moss-green pasture. Two heavy-trunked trees spread their branches overhead and cast a long shadow across the field. In the foreground, a cluster of white daffodils with golden centers stands out against the darker grass.
The far hills dissolve into a cool grey-blue sky, and fine cracks in the paint add an aged, old-master feel. The tones are subdued and olive-green, and the mood is quiet and pastoral.
In the painting
