A black cat sits behind a worn wooden bar, wearing a brown cowboy hat and a tan bandana. It has a cigarette in its mouth, with a thin curl of smoke rising, and its yellow-green eyes stare out with a flat, weary look. A small glass of amber drink waits at the right.

The background is a dark, streaky oxblood red, brushed in broad vertical strokes. The warm light on the counter and the cat's glossy fur stand out against the dark wall, giving the portrait a moody, theatrical, saloon-like feel.
