A rabbit in round wire glasses and a tweed-style jacket holds an open red book in both paws. Its dark eye looks out calmly from beneath tall, upright ears.

The background is built from broad palette-knife strokes in pale sage, cream and dusty pink. The paint stands thick and visibly textured. The soft palette and the small, serious reader give the scene a gentle storybook humor.
