About this work
A lone witch in a tall pointed hat and long black cloak walks away from the viewer down a soft dirt path, a broom in hand. Tall trunks of bare autumn trees with sparse rust and gold leaves frame both sides, while dark evergreens stand in the misty distance and small pumpkins sit in the tall grass along the path.
Heavy fog desaturates everything beyond the foreground, and loose, expressive brushwork melts the forms into the haze under a pale overcast sky. A loose flock of small dark birds, or perhaps bats, crosses above the path. The mood is mysterious and serene, spooky only in the gentlest way.
