About this work
A witch, rendered as a pure soft-edged silhouette with a tall curved pointed hat and long flowing dress, sits sideways on a gently arcing bare branch and faces a large glowing full moon. A broom rests diagonally across the lap, and a few small clusters of autumn leaves dot the branch, which sweeps across nearly the full width of the frame. Small birds in silhouette fly across the upper sky.
Backlit by the moon, the scene is wrapped in soft haze and a gentle vignette, with the moon's edge dissolving into the muted olive sky. Smooth, low-contrast blending with no visible brushwork gives it a dreamy, misty, quietly spooky feel.
