A single antique gold bauble, its surface worn like flaking gilding, hangs from a wide burgundy velvet ribbon tied in a soft, full bow. Sprigs of dusty green cedar fan out behind the knot, and the ribbon's long tails twist down either side of the ornament.

Behind it, broad palette-knife strokes of pewter gray, putty beige and chalky cream drift across the canvas, dotted with flecks of gold leaf. The light is soft and even, and the heavy impasto gives the whole scene a quiet, nostalgic, faded-heirloom feel.
