About fourteen friendly skeletons stand shoulder to shoulder in a single row, their heads at slightly varied heights and many tilting toward one another like a class photograph. Some rest bony hands on their neighbors' shoulders, and one just right of center raises an arm in a cheerful wave.

At the center front, a small child-sized skeleton cradles a carved, smiling jack-o'-lantern. It is the only saturated color in a palette of putty beige, aged bone cream and soft charcoal black. The figures fade into a near-black band along the bottom, while the open upper third is left as heavily textured, plaster-like background.

The skulls and bones are built from small, thick daubs of cream paint with softly rounded edges and dotted, stitch-like outlines, set against a scraped and troweled ground full of knife marks and cracks. Soft, even light and a faint dusty glow around the skulls give the worn, matte surface a naive, hand-made folk-art feel and a vintage autumn Halloween mood.
