About this work
Two wooden casement windows swing open onto a pastoral valley. A flock of sheep and a few lambs graze in the foreground, among clusters of small yellow wildflowers.
Behind them the green hills fade into pale mist, and light filters through the haze from the upper right. The brushwork is thick and buttery, and the paint is left visibly ridged in the grass, the clouds and the weathered window frame.
