A dozen skiers in mustard, slate and charcoal jackets descend a wide, snow-packed run. Overhead, gondola cabins hang from steel cables that cross the frame toward a lift tower. Snow-laden spruces line both sides, and snowflakes drift through a misty gray sky above the hazy mountain slopes.

The snow is built from thick, creamy strokes of white, pale blue and warm ivory, and the gondolas' gold tones are the only strong accent in a cool palette. The scene is lively but hushed, like a busy winter day softened by falling snow.
